Remodeling Wonkang Sanbon Univ. Hospital Ward
오래된 병동을 새로 개선할 때 가장 중점이 되어야 하는 것이 무엇일까? 병실은 입원환자가 대부분의 시간을 보내는 공간이니만큼 편의성이 중요하다. 또 병원 내 감염이 되지 않도록 적절한 병실구조를 갖추어야 한다. 유럽이나 미국은 1·2인실이 대부분을 차지하고, 일본은 4인실이 기준인 것에 비해 우리나라는 5인실이어서 병원 내 감염예방 차원, 편의성이나 사생활 보호를 위한 공간이라고 보기 어렵다. 그런데 요 근래 메르스 사태 이후 4인 병실이 다인실로 규정되는 법규가 신설되어 이제 병실을 디자인할 때 좀 더 쾌적함과 환자 개개인에 신경 쓸 수 있게 되었다.
그러나 이번 리모델링은 워낙 병상수에 미리 맞춰 계획된 도면하에 진행되어 후 입찰로 회사가 선정된 사례라 기본 평면을 바꾸는 것이 아닌 환경 조성에만 분위기를 맞춰야 하는 접근이었다. 상황이 이렇다 보니 선진국의 병원처럼 병실에 발코니를 제공하거나, 모든 입원환자들에게 밖을 볼 수 있는 창을 제공하는 등의 사례 등의 친화적 환경을 조성할 수는 없지만 최대한 감성의 공간이 될 수 있도록 마감재 하나하나에 각별한 선택을 통해 바뀌어 갈 수 있도록 노력한 설계 디자인이 반영될 예정이다.
What needs to be the top priority when remodelingold wards? onvenience needs to come first as patients usually spend most of their time in wards.Also, it is necessary to lay an appropriate ward plan to prevent any contagionwithin the ward. Usually, five patients shares one ward in Korea and thus, itslayout may not be proper to keep away contagion. On the other hands, 1 or2-patient-room is the most common type in the U.S. and Europe, whereas4-patient-room is the most common in Japan. However, the outbreak of MERSresulted in reform in regulation. According to this, a 4-patient-room is nowconsidered as a standard instead of 5-patient room. Therefore, designers canoffer more relaxed space where doctors can give more consideration toindividual patients.
However, onthe previous plan, the number of wards was already decided prior to the bidding,and the remodeling came after based on this plan. As the plans were alreadylaid out, it is difficult for us to suggest the eco-friendly space like those ofdeveloped countries, such as providing balcony in the patient room or windowwith the wide view. Still, our company will do best to come up with the designthat allows better ward experience of the patients, by carefully choosingfinishing materials.
